To meet increasing demands for materials in Christchurch post-earthquake rebuild, late in 2012, Isaac Construction commenced Stage 1 construction of a new Sand Processing Plant at their McLean’s Island site, representing a $4M investment.
The demand from our key customer, Ashby Concrete, was anticipated to double from 500 m3 p/day to 1000m3 p/day, but by early 2013 had already exceeded this estimate, hitting 1200 m3 p/day. The new plant doubles our existing production capacity to 600T of concrete sand per 9-hour day, by washing pitrun into graded rounds and sand. The development also includes a new settling pond to recycle wash water back into the processing plant, minimising the demand for fresh water.
Stage 2 will add further Cone and Barmac crushers plus replacement chip screens. Further crushers to be added in the future will enable dust to be produced from 40/20 grade aggregate.
